The City of Houston Joins Keep America Beautiful in a Green Starts Here Rally
Honoring the National 2010 Great American Cleanup
WHAT: Local dignitaries and personalities join national non-profit Keep America Beautiful for a kickoff celebration of the Great American Cleanup and the launch of Houston-area cleanup and beautification projects. This event spotlights the State of Texas’ involvement in the 2010 Great American Cleanup, which mobilizes millions of volunteers for 30,000 community improvement events in all 50 states from March 1st through May 31st. Keep Houston Beautiful (KHB) and Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) recruited volunteers from across Texas, embracing the state’s spirit of camaraderie and pride. The “Green Starts Here” event is held to educate, as well as to clean and improve areas of Houston including Wiess and Memorial Parks, Pro-Vision School, Denver Harbor and the Westbury and Acres Homes neighborhoods.
